I think we should do that too! I don't know much about it but i think it is only fair! great thesis! Very to the point and sort of gives people insite to what you stand for and what the new elections act is
This is something that I haven't studied closely, so your first speech was an excellent intro. I would like to see more in-depth discussion on what a lobbyist does, who pays their salary, why do the polictician listen to them, is it tied to campaign contributions? As you can see, I'm not familiar with this.
I did not know about this system before you told me. I consider the thesis as great one. I believe that elections should be more fair, and real people would become presidents. But do not forget that In our society president is just a toy. Other people have control.
I agree because election should be fair and government should be "of the people, for the people, and by the people." Interest groups should not influence our government to make descions which effect all the citizens of the United States.
After looking at some summaries, I am not as clear on how it regulates lobbying vs regulates campaign contributions. Which may or may not be the same thing depending on the situation. If you could clarify the difference in your speech that would be helpful. Corinna
Sorry I missed your 1st speech. I would've found it very informative. From what we've talked about in class I agree with you. You're a very good communicator... I really look forward to your speech (and to seeing you on SportsCenter some day!).
I agree. I knew a little about lobbying before, but your first speech was really informative and helpful in explaining it. I totally agree with your thesis, there deffinitly needs to be some sort of regulation there. -Brittany
I feel the same.I'm still not very familiar with this topic, but your informative speech was helpful, and I agree with your thesis that this act should be passed.
People are tricky. Do you really think that this act would stop the gross abuses of lobbyists? Look at the long history between tax payers and the IRS. For every cunning way a person or company might try to save instead of pay, the IRS has an equally binding and preventative measure to ensure that they do. I think you have to dig deeper. This is a wimpy approach to curbing corruption in our representative government. You are smart and obviously care. Reach for something more extraordinary and revolutionary.
I agree. Although I am not good in area like this, since what the government does is so mysterious to us, anything that are harmful should be stop. This include laws or any activities that seems inappropriate. So yes, I support your thesis and hope to hear more from this topic.
i agree that the lobbying should be limited or regualted. unfortunatly i dont know much about the lobbying process, but of what i do know, not much good has come from lobbying, and it creates an unfair advantage, and power in politics. i am interested in what you will talk about.
This looks good man, i'm interested to see what this act entails and hopefully there are some good regulations on lobbying. I think regulation is a better idea that completely getting rid of something.
I agree, even though I do not think it would be enough. There could be so many ways to effect public that are used without the wide publicity of it's usage.
I support this bill since it would free candidates from constant fundraising and instead focus their attention on what people in their communities want.

I agree, if it helps stop some of the BS that the government throws on us and raises transparency I don't see any issue.
