This is a very contorversial topic i will be excited to hear how on earth people will go about doing this. I dont know where i stand on this subject I am on the line!!hmmmm Your speach will most likely show me what side to chose! -Melanie
I completely agree with your thesis Kathy. The disadvantages that alot of these children go through (no financial aid, etc) is really unfortunate and they shouldn't have to hold their lives back for being in a situation that did't put themselves in. I am really looking forward to your followup speech!
I agree that they should have access to higher education if we have allowed them to go through the school systems for primary and secondary education. The next question is, what are they going to do for citizenship, since even with the education, without a visa or citizenship, in theory, they can not work in the country. Corinna
I agree. Except I do have a lot of questions. I'm not really educated at all about this subject. I'm just not sure what could be done to help. Would just allowing them to have equal acess be it? Would there be state laws or national laws? -Brittany
I agree with your thesis. I believe they should be given equal rights in primary and secondary education, but I am not so sure about higher education. The young children of illegal immigrants had no choice and didn't get themselves into the situation. They should be able to have education, too.
Great thesis Kathy. I'd never thought much about this topic before. I tend to take your position, although I can see why it's a highly charged issue. Education is certainly one resource in breaking the poverty chain. Look forward to hearing you.
I agree that children of illegal immigrants should have equal access to higher education and citizenship. I think the key thing is to find a way for them to contribute back to our country, not just take the schooling and money and run. I wonder what evidence there is about how well these children do in college and how hard they work. Usually, their parents work like dogs to give them privileges, always undercover and scared of being caught. How do the kids act as a result of having lived here? Was it worth their parents' risks?
I am not exactry sure if it is the way to be. Perhaps it is true that noone has anything to give unles they fill themselves first. If there is going to be the day that all legal residents will have their tuitions payed, then the government shold think of children of illigal emigrants. They are not in any way to be blamed. They made own choice, Solet them wait in the proper line.
I don't really know at this point. It is sad enough to know what it is like for children who are considered illegal immigration and they can't access the legalized stuff. At the same time, the question of legitimate rise when we have to deal with situation like this. To be legit, illegal immigrates must do thing the right way. It is choice that they have to made and there are consequences. You made the choice and you have to face it. That is how life is, right?
i dont really know where i stand, i think the children should be given an oppertunity, but i know there are some ligitimate reasons they should not be here or have rights. the children did not choose to come here so they should not be punished. i think it is a different story for the parents though. but then again America is the land of the free, and full of dreams and promises and everyone should have a right to succeed.
This is a tough decision, and there should be a better chance for these rights. This should be something that the student must work for, if they can put in the time and effort to go through school and qualify to attend an institute of higher education they should have the right to become legal americans.
I agree with this. It isn't their fault that their parents are illegal aliens, therefore they should have the freedom to have all the rights as a normal citizen.
I disagree. We need to make sure we stop illegal aliens from continuing to come into our country. Though it may be harsh it is well worth it. If we do not put harsher laws on illegal aliens nothing will change except for them continuing to grow in numbers and eventually takeover our country.
I disagree, at least as the situation is right now. Since the legal immigration does specifically set the requrements of proper immigration, illegal one is already decided to be not acceptable. And the legalization of children of illegal immigrants will not be fair.

I agree, but like Brittany, still have questions about this topic. How can we help these children but still make citizenship a priority?
