Mai's thesis

To resolve human trafficking, the first thing that must be done is to educate the general public that this problem even exists.

  1. I completely agree with your thesis. I was unaware of this problem before you and Cara spoke about it. I think it needs high-profile media attention to draw the issue into the public view. It needs to use all forms of media. I don't have cable or sattelite T.V., so it needs to be on the radio, internet and T.V., so awareness can be raised globally, but especially in the United States. What can individuals do to help stop this problem?

  2. I agree too! i had no idea about what all was going on with human trafficking. I didn't know that it was such a big problem. People just need to be educated about it GREAT THESIS

  3. I agree that public awareness is at the top of the list. Secondary to that is resolving the issues on why people are brought over in the first place. Are we not using existing labor forces? Where is the prostitution happening and what is driving it (laws not enforced)? How else can regulations, laws, agencies be involved to stop it before it happens?

  4. Since I am also doing my speech on human trafficking, I absolutely agree with your thesis. Spreading awareness is definitely the first step in combating such a disgusting industry.

  5. I agree with the thesis. I've heard it mentioned in alot of my classes but even then it's still not enough information. You can spot someone who's sketch and be like "Oh, drug dealer." But you never see anything odd when you see young girls/boys, etc working at odd jobs.

  6. I agree! I knew this problem existed, but I never knew it was so common and such a huge problem. I don't think many people even know about the devastating issue and I believe the first thing in solving any problem is actually being AWARE of the problem itself.

  7. I totally agree with education being a proper and crucial key to get this huge issue moving closer towards a revolution! I had NO IDEA this was such a huge problem, and even just recognizing it as something that still plauges the world has a huge impact.

  8. Great thesis. I completely agree. It seems like the movie industry has done more to raise awareness on this issue. That is a start. However, I agree that we need more public education on this problem. So many of us are unaware of the gravity of the problem. Great job!

  9. Not a lot of people living in daily routine even care about this. They just do not know that the problems like that take place in real life. I agree with you 100% and would love to listen to your speech.

  10. I agree. First we must be educated in order to know that the problem exist. I have no idea that forms of slavery is still exist in the modern day. The media often talk about world issues but doesn't mention any of these type of slavery. So it is a blame on them but at the same time, the issue is huge. It is better to know thing around us, so I am hoping to hear more from this.

  11. yes! many people do not know that this is even an issue especially here in the US. if there were more people that knew about this and we knew the signs of what it looked like and what to do, more people would be able to do more to help. i am looking forward to hearing your speech.

  12. I agree! This is an issue that i had know about, but never really thought about because it is never talked about! It is something we need to bring attention too so that something will be done about it!

  13. That definitely seems like a great idea, like my good friends at GI JOE always say Knowing is half the Battle! But seriously education is going to be the only way in my mind that people will respond to this issue. The more people introduced to this issue leads to more followers, and eventually action.

  14. I listen to NPR (National Public Radio) almost every day, so just being educated about this topic doesn't seem to reach far enough. You did an excellent job speaking about this, by the way. What strategies could be used to curtail human trafficking?

  15. Totally agree, that makes perfect sense. People need to know that there is an issue with it before a solution can even be brought to the surface.

  16. I agree. It is not an issue we often think of as a big problem but I think its because we do not see any direct affects in our own lives and it does not affect a majority of American citizens. We must push for it to be an issue but the real problem is what should we do about it? I think you should focus on a solution and say this is what we should do.

  17. I agree. With enough awareness there just might be the chance that will make it different. I did not know that the human trafficking does even take place prior to the speeches.
