I absolutely agree with the idea. I also try to touch this subject im my speech. as I already said, we do something to save our environment; however, it is not enough. we should do more, and really, passionately believe that it will help.
I don't think there should be stricter laws. I think that there needs to be heavy advertising/campaigning that encourages citizens to recycle. People that don't recycle at all or don't recycle as much as they should need to be clearly shown the benefits to the environment and how much it reduces their own personal carbon footprint. Waste management has come a long way by letting us co-mingle products, but what more can they do to promote it?
I was thinking about putting advertising into my thesis too! i just don't know how i would do that i believe in both stricter laws/more laws and advertising!!! AAAH but how!!
i agree!! i know japan they have very strict recycling laws to the point that if you do not separate your trash accordingly, they will not pick it up. i think it is our responsibilities as humans that share this world to use it with consideration of what the long term effects are and the short term effects of the enviroment. i think it would be cool if you talked about how long it takes for some of our trash takes to break down in the landfills and such.
I agree that there should be nationwide regulations on recycling. Local marketing and advertising should support a national program of recycling so we don't just ship one state's garbage to another state (like NY does) without repercussions.
I would agree that there should be more advertising to promote recycling, and possibly regulations like Corinna was saying, however, I would not go so far as to say there should be very strict rules/laws like the case in Japan.
I agree that there should be stricter laws with recycling. I think an even bigger problem is that there are individual county laws in one state. This is a really cucial issue, and I know that they're are state laws. However, they are often put aside for individual counties. This makes things pretty confussing! I totally agree that the laws should be revised/stricter, especially for a whole state. -Brittany
I don't agree that there should be stricter LAWS on recycling, but I do think that people need to be recycling more and not filling up our land fills. I believe it is everyone's personal responsibility to recycle and not the government's role.
I think that recycling really is a choice and that it's something with such minimal impact it doesn't affect things so much. Encouraging recycling is good, but penalizing someone for not doing it is bad.
I remember years ago TV ads on littering and air pollution made a big impact on me. I sure wasn't going to throw anything out the window after some of those ads! I believe such ad campaigns for recycling could rally more people to be more responsible toward a national cause. Some mom on my son's soccer team proposed we not us plastic bottles of water for the team... a local TV ad of sorts. Everyone readily supported the effoert. Stricter government laws on recycling may not have the same effect. There are many in our country who are becoming fed up with the expansion of 'big governemnt' in America.
i dont think that stricter laws would be the best thing becuase before you make laws about something you have to make sure that recylcling is accesable to everyone. i live down a private road and we dont have the option to recyle, we have to take our garbage to the dump, and the last time that i was there i did not see any place to put recycling. maybe for these laws it should be placed on buisnesses, but i think for the general public not so much. adversting is a better strategy, or making it so it is easier for people to recycle.
I agree but not to the greatest extent. Recycling is good to maintain a good environment but you can't force people in doing it. I don't think it should pass into laws and people don't have to pay fine every time they forget to recycling. I believe the labeling method on recycle bin work fine. People understand the meaning of the word recycling when they approach one (trash can) and were able to follow it. What I am trying to say is recycling is just common sense. But this is just what I think and I am hoping to learn something new
Yeah more encouragement to recycle, more opportunities. Incorporate recycling into everything. We should not have to enforce laws to recycle, it should just be for the benefit of the world because the world rocks!
I agree with Kathy. We don't need stricter laws, just more cultural pressure, ways we can retool our choices and lifestyle so not to use so much in the first place, and to recycle what we do use.
I agree and disagree. We already have strict recycling laws I think instead of putting it on the people we should start putting stricter regulations on the people that are using all these paper, plastic, and aluminum items. i.e. grocery stores. We need to make change at a higher level.
I believe that it is definitely great when someone recycles but i dotn think that there should be strict lawsregulating recycling. I think that we have many other issues to worry about than who is or isn't recycling. Jennie
I agree. If the more professionally done recycling solution will be offered to the public through enforcement of larger corporations, then the public might just as well follow the new fashion.

I agree, recycling is a great way to preserve resources and help with the environment. if there are stricter laws then more people will likely recycle
