  1. Because of its unstable government? It sounds like a serious threat to global peace in the middle east and could start a world wars. I agree, but would love to see more details on Iran's program.

  2. I am not sure if Iran really works on nuclear weapon programs. If it is so, than I agree that they have to stop it. If they ran nuclear program for civil purposes, they can run it.

  3. I agree because of the violent statements directed toward Israel and the US. I believe if they obtained weapons of mass destruction they would not hesitate in using them. I, along with Kathy, would also love to hear more details about their program.

  5. Rob, I think your persuasive speech will be fascinating. I tend to agree with you. As was said to Spiderman, 'With much power comes much responsibility'. The Iranian government has claimed that it's nuclear program is for commercial purposes. It certainly hasn't not proven itself very responsible (nor truthful.

  6. Are we stopping ours? It is all a matter of perspective. I am curious as to how you will propose it to be stopped. What proof is there that what is being built is not for nuclear energy? We have already seen how poor communications between political entities can lead to our soldiers in a war that isn't ours. Add media hype and misdirection...what is real?

  7. I agree with your thesis. However, I am unsure about how you think this should be carried out? This would put a huge amount of pressure on the U.S. to step in and 'make' them stop their nuclear program. Or do you think it should be a U.N. issue? Who would take this over to kind of 'oversee' that they stopped it?

  8. I am a bit confused by your thesis, because you are assuming that Iran even has a Nuclear Weapons Program, which is what I thought was part of the debate in you informative speech. I would love to hear more and am excited for the persuasive round.

  9. I am not so sure about this issue. Yes, nuclear weapons program in bad and should be halted, but that doesn't mean Iran is the only threat. What about other nations, N. Korea, China, United Kingdom, France, Russia and perhaps United States. There are approximately nine countries, whose interests is nuclear weapons. So I'm not sure at this point, it seem like a world issues and its huge. Though, I might learn something new from this.

  10. If Iran is really using nuclear technology to provide energy for its population, and there is a danger that this technology could be turned into weapons, then I'd like to hear how America, and the rest of the world helps them solve two problems. One, how do they provide energy to all the regions of their country? It seems a legitimate enough claim to keep it, especially in light of the fact that the U.S. uses it too. If having it allows them the ability to turn it into weapons, then how do you solve the problem of them defending their country when Russia, Iraq, Israel and even North Korea has this capability. I'm assuming the dangerous part of nuclear technology in Iran is the possibility of that country making an offensive or preemptive strike. Isn't that the real issue? If so, I think we would be more effective in helping them become a stable country, in supporting their democratic efforts, in keeping diplomacy open and in not directly threatening or trying to control them. There is a lot to be said for having an alliance with Iran, especially at a time when it looks like the Mullahs will not long stay in power. Democratic roots have taken hold their over the last few decades. It has taken a long time for the people there to find their voice, mobilize, organize and be able to report on what is happening. But they do. I don't think Iran is nearly the threat that North Korea, China (left unchecked) or Afghanistan is in terms of instability.

  12. I think that we should find out if they are developing nuclear weapons first, or if they are just wanting to use nuclear technology for energy purposes. but if they have the power to use if for energy they have the power to make weapons, so i think it would be best if Iran did not continue with their program. if they wanted it for energy they could get it from other contries. but like other people have said that there are also other contries that have the power that we should be worried about.

  13. Rob I agree that Iran should stop any nuclear weapons program, however so far they have denied rumors that they are working on Nuclear weapons so you should more focus on Iran shutting down nuclear research.

  14. I agree with this. From what we have experienced, a lot of what Iran has been trying to do is not necessarily "peaceful" as they are currently saying.

  15. I agree. We not only need to stop nuclear weapons in Iran but around the world. All countries must do what's best for the world and rid ourselves of nuclear weapons. I think we must start by leading by example. The only problem is we can try and diplomatically stop them, but I am not sure if it will help. What is the solution?

  16. I agree, but with additions to it. Alternative energy sources situation should be helped with, to justify the efforts as actually helpful ones, and to prevent waists of our resources by those who exploit such situations.

  17. I agree, I am against ANY country having nuclear weapons. Every country has the right to pull themselves out of poverty and into first world status with new technology, but I don't believe this should be done at the expense of other countries' safety and security. Iran's government is currently seen as a security threat for certain countries in the region and has not yet proven its real intent on the purpose for their program. The flip side is, the U.S. and other countries have nuclear weapons or access to them. Once one country has weapons of mass destruction, every other country wants them for self-defense. If we restrict one country, shouldn't we restrict them all?
